"Candyland"

Ok, this was the funnest cake to do...ever! I loved it! My sister & I worked on it together. We make a really great team because there are things that I love to do that she doesn't particularly enjoy, and vice versa. This cake was done for a little girl's 3rd birthday this past weekend. It's based on the board game "Candyland." Everything on it is edible. The path for the game is made from a type of gum that is similar to Chicklets. All of the signs are made from fondant & the writing is in edible marker. The Gingerbread Tree is made from a gingerbread man cookie. On the lower right side, we have candy canes for Peppermint Forest. We also added some white sugar crystals to give the look of snow. Then we have some purple twizzlers for the Licorice Forest, Sugar Babies for Peanut Acres, and gumdrops for Gumdrop Mountain & Gumdrop Pass. In the upper left corner, we have Chocolate Swamp. It's made of melted chocolate chips with some chocolate chips dotted in and around it. In the "puddle" is Gloopy (a Hershey's Kiss). In the upper right corner we have swirly lollipops for Lollipop Woods. At the end of the path, we sprinkled some multi-colored circle shaped sprinkles. Finally at the end of the "game" we have a cupcake castle with peppermint sticks surrounding it. Oh, and around the sides of the cake we cut large gumdrops in half & bordered the cake with them, adding a gingerbread man to each corner. All in all, I think it's an absolutely adorable cake!
